Inn Style

When I bleisure, I’m usually more of a high-rise hotel kinda woman.

So, I broke character when I booked a room at the Inn. The Crabtree Kittle House Restaurant and Inn, to be exact. I had eaten there many times when I lived in the area but never realized it had upstairs rooms. Convenient to where I was going, reasonably priced, and something new and interesting.

When I visited the site, I learned it had once been “a roadhouse during Prohibition hosting wild late-night affairs and a private girls’ school.” That seemed oddly appropriate.

Crabtree Kittle House checked all the boxes of an inn stay. You should also consider these features when planning a Bleisure Living® excursion.

  1. Solid (and preferably free) wifi: I was able to work like a champ.
  2. All the creature comforts, like a big-screen TV, ample outlets, and great bath products.
  3. Just the right amount of privacy. I was in Room 2B, which not only had an amazing golf course and foliage view it was at the end of a hall.
  4. Free breakfast. And I met an old friend for dinner in the oh-so-wonderful restaurant bar (which is less formal than the main dining room). When you’re traveling, the ability to eat where you sleep can be a huge plus!
  5. A cute and funky room key. Sometimes, those little touches make me smile.

As in many older establishments, the mattress and pillows were a little mushy, and the scent was a tad musty, but that could be seen as part of the Inn charm.

But Crabtree Kittle House convinced me that there’s always room at the inn for me and that I might need to mix up my hotel style repertoire!

And I’ll never forget this incredible Brussels sprouts salad!
