Red Flags at Yellowstone: How to Visit National Parks

This year I embarked on adventures across nine captivating U.S. National Parks. I’d do it again in a heartbeat, but here’s what I wish I knew in advance:

  • GET THE CARD! Instead of shelling out up to $35 per day at the gate, the $80 annual pass might just be your golden ticket. It’ll also get you in the gate even faster. Arrive early to avoid long lines or travel on a weekday.
  • Lower your dining standards: Fine dining and lodging? Not quite. Pack snacks or visit some of the mini in-park grocery stores. I’ll take a good granola bar or peanut butter crackers over a $19 bad sandwich any day.
  • Leave the laptop at home: Brace for a tech detox as most of the parks do NOT have any cell service and rarely have wifi . Plan on using a hiking app or maps to get around? Make sure to download all that you need in advance so you can keep moving. If you have a big work project, plan on doing it before or after your park adventure.

Did you know that you have a choice of 63 National parks? Start YOUR escapades. The wild is calling your name. Blaze new trails (but follow my tips).
