NYC Part 2: My Beloved 2003

What’s 2003?

It’s my favorite hotel room at the Bryant Park Hotel in New York City. (It also happens to be the year I started my own business.)

A room for all seasons, it has a giant bathroom, a desk with ample outlets, and a cozy bed with various pillows and a soft purple throw blanket.

Its balcony (a rarity in New York hotels) overlooks Bryant Park.

In the winter, I watch the ice skaters and admire the tree. I wander through the Holiday Market. In the summer, I hear live concerts and see outdoor movies. I pre-order my gluten-free bagel at Zucker’s using the Toast app and avoid the lines. Starbucks and Whole Foods are nearby, too, although I splurged on Saturday night with an amazing dinner at Koi.

Free coffee and muffins await guests every morning and my ice bucket is always filled.

I recorded my podcast from Célon on the lower level. At night, it’s a hot spot, but during the day, it is peaceful, and the Wi-Fi works perfectly!

If I’m feeling lazy, I connect my phone to the TV and watch my favorite shows underneath the aforementioned throw. The bell staff even brings my DoorDash order up to my room on “sloth night.”

Speaking of the staff, they are always warm and welcoming. They now know me by name, which is pretty awesome, considering I only visit every couple of months.

I spent more time in my room than usual this week. Following a conference (in which I stayed at another hotel), I had to catch up on work. But during past stays, when I’ve wandered around the city, I’ve found the hotel’s location to be super-convenient — to Broadway, downtown, and even Grand Central to visit my Westchester buddies.

Leaving here will be tough.

But I’ll be back! The manager told me that the rooms will undergo remodeling and the hotel will celebrate its 100th year. So much to look forward to.

Adieu, 2003 (for now)!
