Hotel-ify Your Home: 4 Bleisure Living Tips

Although you may think that traveling every single night is fun, the reality is we spend lots of time in our actual homes, too.

Here’s how to make your place of residence feel even more like a hotel and get you into that travel state of mind.

  1. Clean, Clean, Clean: One of the most enjoyable experiences in a hotel is having routine housekeeping service. Tons of great sites, such as care.com, can help you find high-quality, local professionals who will come to your home and leave it just as clean (if not cleaner) as your favorite hotel. And yes, even housekeeping services will make your bed and leave goodnight chocolate on your pillow.
  2. Room Service Upgrade: A small trick to make your to-go dinner a meal you’ll enjoy is to replace the bags/paper/cardboard with real dishes, cutlery, and cloth napkins. Part of the eating experience includes your eyes. So, why not spruce up your routine even on the most busy days? (If you do it before that cleaning person comes, they’ll even do your dishes!)
  3. Quality counts: Hotels brag about their Egyptian cotton sheets, fancy coffee makers, and high-tech TVs. Think of the amenities in a hotel room you look forward to the most and splurge in your own home. Something as basic as switching from Keurig to Nespresso or investing in high-quality sheets and pillows or a spa bathrobe will make you feel like a premium guest at home.
  4. Calendars for countdowns: Those of you with the travel bug know there’s nothing more exciting than thinking about the next trip. An easy and decorative way to do this is with a fun travel-based calendar or whiteboard to keep track of upcoming trips. This means even on a rough day, you’ll have a tangible reminder to know you have an amazing adventure to look forward to.  Or, re-live your favorite moments with a map from past travel moments?

Take these quick tips to take your basic living space into a hotel-style oasis you’ll look forward to each time the front door opens. (And you can even give yourself “points” for every night you’re home — treating yourself to something special when you return.)
