What’s in YOUR Ears?

As I embark on my 2024 Bleisure Living adventures, I will be packing my new collapsible headphones (a Xmas gift to myself), as well as my earbuds.

Why both?

Long-term earbud wearing can cause hearing issues, so I like to switch off my “input devices” and sometimes take them off entirely.

But what should we pump into our ears and brains while on the road?

  1. Create a music playlist for 2024, with some of your favorite inspirational and/or evocative tunes. This tune from my friend Mike is both upbeat and inspirational. We both lost a wonderful man recently, but Mike reminds us to keep moving forward. Need suggestions for travel-themed songs? Check out this list.
  2. Podcasts are a great way to learn something new be entertained, or get inspired. Here’s mine (hint, hint!)
  3. Need visuals to ignite your imagination or relax? Download a movie or installments from an educational or entertaining series to watch on the flight or at the hotel. I recently discovered this series. It combines my love of history and food!
  4. I always have a couple of Audible books at the ready and track my reading progress here.
  5. Sometimes you just need to chill. That’s where meditation apps and white, pink, and brown noise come into play (or, more accurately, sleep). Here’s a simple guide to colored noises and what each one does.

But remember too that constantly plugging up your ears or wearing headphones non-stop can prevent you from social connection, unique noises of a new town or city, fascinating conversations that are happening around you, or important announcements and sounds (like that car horn as you’re crossing the street).

We’ll soon be covering another travel sense — sight — and innovative new gadgetry that is designed for travel and exploring.

Welcome our new writer, Karla Guadron, who is both fashionable AND techy!
