These Boots are Made for Walking (and Packing)

Nancy Sinatra inspired my name, so my love of boots makes sense.

Although my suitcases live in Arizona (where cowgirl boots are the norm at times), I travel back east and need footwear that’s both functional and keeps me warm.

But who wants to pack an extra 10 pounds and take up all that space in a suitcase?

That’s why I treated myself to a new pair for the 2023/24 season — MOUSSE FIT from Newbella.

I’ve read mixed reviews of this company. They are, apparently, one of those Chinese-based digital marketers, which makes sense because I found them via a Facebook ad. Only time will tell how they hold up.

I also have a great pair of suede boots from Chinese Laundry. They were so great that I bought them in two colors.

I love them because they are:

  • Comfy! Buy boots and shoes that will not leave your precious feet and tootsies bleeding and blistered. I have wide feet and big-ish calves, but the stretchy sock-like uppers and generous footbed fit like a charm. High heels are sexy, but after breaking my ankle on Halloween 2021 (getting out of an Uber), I’m skittish about footwear that doesn’t enable me to walk long distances and exit transportation gracefully.
  • Not too dressy…not too casual. They go from day to night, and basic black fits with anything.
  • Foldable and light to pack. Lots more room in my bag for clothes and souvenirs from my trip.
  • Well-priced. I have enough $$ left over for other bleisure living splurges or saving.
  • Above-the-knee. I’m not too fond of the cold, so every extra bit of warmth is appreciated.

Packing for chilly weather without having to check a bag is both an art and a science. Stuffing the foot of your boots with pantyhose before you fold them is a great space-saving hack.

Of course, you can always wear clunkier/heavier boots on the plane, but you’d better have TSA precheck and a high tolerance for foot sweat.

If you’re traveling somewhere snowy or rainy, be sure to spray or otherwise treat your boots in advance with water-repellant. It’ll also keep them stain-free.

Throughout the fall/winter, we’ll be showcasing more products that are both practical and warm.
