I’m hardly suggesting you run away and abandon your business responsibilities (the B in Bleisure).
But sprinkling your life with some L (the leisure part) can be game-changing.
I’m in the home stretch of a massive client project but I drove for close to seven hours to a new environment where I could:
- Work at all hours. Room service, housekeeping, and hotel chefs relieved me of at-home obligations.
- Attend Natural Products Expo West, where I ran into former colleagues and learned so much about the industry.
- Enjoy the sun and sea air, a comfy bed, walking, (and a much-needed massage) That kept me in good health for the weeks ahead.
- Engage in random convos with conference-goers and pool people. A “destination date” expanded my horizons and kept me from being a total recluse. But, unfortunately, he was expecting a ONS (or “smash and dash” or “pump and dump”), which is simply not my jam. Bumble is not DoorDash, boys! Please read my profile.
The Paséa Hotel & Spa is close enough to LA if you need an urban fix, but far enough that you can channel your inner surf bum.
Book an ocean-front or ocean-view room if you’ll be working from the hotel. Looking out at the sea can fuel creativity.
The massage at the AArna Spa was amazing and you can access it from within the hotel.
If you can’t afford to get away from your home…
A great staycation or local massage and sauna or steam will suffice.
Many local hotels and gyms are now are geared for co-working.
I’ll return to my home base rested and recharged and ready to repack for my next Bleisure Living journey in three days.
I’ve perfected the art of unpacking and repacking.
Along with exploring and recharging, that’s at the epicenter of a Bleisure Living non-routine!
Attention all Bleisure Living readers! We are looking for a volunteer social media manager to join our team. Talk to any of us! Great perks and visibility for aspiring travel influencers!
