And the Award Goes to…

Award season is in full swing and the Bleisure Living team is putting a green twist on things with our top picks for sustainable travelers.

They are a great way to pass the time and get inspired while on the road (or in-between adventures).

You’ll find eye-popping education, inspirational stories, jaw-dropping imagery, and A-List hosts.  Something for everyone and no PhD required.

Most Eye-Opening:  “Common Ground” (movie)

This award winner from founders and documentarians Josh and Rebecca Tickell sheds light on food system challenges and how regenerative agriculture and a return to indigenous practices hold the key to healthier foods for the growing population and healthier economics for farmers. The film includes uplifting and educational stories featuring fan favorites Woody Harrelson, Laura Dern, Jason Momoa and more.

Best A-Lister:  “Our Great National Parks” (limited series)

Former president Barack Obama earned an Emmy narrating this stunning Netflix limited series that takes viewers on a journey to protected lands, rare plant and animal species, and the most delicate ecosystems on the globe.  Don’t book that bucket list trip until you’ve watched all 5 episodes.

Most Inspiring:  “Exposure” (movie)

This beautiful documentary by award-winner Holly Morris follows 11 women from 11 countries on their extraordinary journey to the north pole.  The suspenseful and often treacherous trek creates a narrative that stretches beyond climate into topics that impact all women:  resilience, sexism, global citizenry and more.

Most Binge-worthy:  DCEFF (non-profit organization)

DCEFF, aka The Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital, is a planet lover’s movie jackpot.  With a library of over 500 films, there’s something for every person and every passion.  We suggest kicking it off with 2023’s “Eating our Way to Extinction”, produced by Academy Award winner Kate Winslett.  Better yet, book your next workcation for the 2024 Festival taking place March 21-30.

Need a screen break? We’ve got you covered.

Best Snack Sized Learning:  “BBC: The Climate Question” (podcast)

From lab-grown burgers to eco-tourism and Bill Gates’ views on private jet travel, we love the BBC’s jargon-light conversations and interviews on a range of sustainability topics.

Best Myth Busters: “Science Vs” (podcast)

Up your climate knowledge and your social game courtesy of the data nerds at Gimlet Media who bring us episodes like “Self-Care:  Can You Hack Your Mood?” and “How Bats Break Science”. Never a dull moment, no topic off limits.

Most Bar-Raising:  “The Solutionists” (e-book)

Ready to put your green passion into practice? This gem from sustainability thought-leader, founder and celebrated author, Solitaire Townsend gives business leaders the blueprint to transform your business and support a more sustainable society.

Most Moving:  “Anatomy of a Breakthrough” (e-book)

Feeling stuck?  This great read by Adam Alter explains why it happens, why it’s often necessary, and how to move forward despite the inertia.  Relevant to individuals and companies on a range of topics beyond climate and full of lessons from expert “unstickers”.
