Did you know that the longest flight in 2023 is almost 19 hours long!
That’s air time, not travel time, not connection and lounge time but actual time spent high up in the sky.
If the thought of that intimidates you, just as much as it did me before my 14-hour flight to Korea last year, don’t be scared…be prepared! Here are my recommendations for those extra long-haul journeys:
- Eye mask: When you’re tired..you are tired despite bright screens, open windows or an unappetizing meal service. I highly recommend this rub-free comfort mask from NIDRA designed for deep sleep and stylish with a variety of colors.
- Earplugs! Instead of blaring music into your ears for 20 + hours and being tired of even your favorite songs enjoy the sounds of silence with these maximum strength ear plugs that are light, comfortable, and sure to help get even a few extra minutes of precious sleep.
- Compression socks! Your legs and feet will thank you, especially if you are flying economy or premium economy on a long haul and unable to lie down. My favorite (maybe because of the airplanes) is Sockwell which comes in a handy 3-pack and won’t compromise your look.
- Lotion, lotion lotion! I can’t express enough how comforting it is to have a calming, moisturizing lotion, and this TSA-Approved Pine Creek Lavender lotion comes in 5 styles. (I recommend getting a few different scents).
- Bonus suggestion: Get up and walk around the cabin. Many carriers now provide snacks/drinks in the back galley on long flights and it’s a great way to avoid feeling stiff. Here are some ways you can even exercise on a plane (without looking weird).
So, don’t fret about that long flight. Enjoy tons of movies or a great book, think about your exotic destination, and be sure to pack these above items to ensure your across-the-globe flight is a great one.
And, when you reach your destination, apply some of these great tips to avoid jet lag.
