Airport Chic: How to Look Effortlessly Put Together

Between lugging bags around, sitting for hours, and sometimes being up at ghastly hours, we want to be as comfortable as possible when traveling. However, the need to jump on a video call shortly after landing or the potential to encounter an airport crush, means we also want to look good while on the go. If we’re in travel predicaments that are going to have us stressed or sleep deprived, here are some tips on looking cute while doing so!

Comfort is Queen (But Style is a Close Second)

Let’s be real—comfortable clothing is the travel MVP, so opt for breathable fabrics and stretchy waistbands. Athleisure is a solid go-to but remember, not all sets are created equal! Instead of wearing something loose all over, play with proportions.

  • If your waist is your best asset, try a cropped sweater.
  • Great legs? Opt for leggings.
  • To show off your arms, wear a top with sleek fitted sleeves.

Wide-leg sweatpants tend to look more refined than joggers because they resemble trouser pants.

I get compliments on this Victoria’s Secret set all the time.

Another top pick for an incredibly comfortable feel is Vuori, I cannot emphasize enough how deliciously soft their pieces are!

Always, always, always wear layers. Planes are notorious for their erratic temperatures.

Repurpose Travel Wear for Daily Wear

If you’re an overpacker, wear pieces on a flight that you can repurpose for brunch, a client meeting, or a night out.

The key is relaxed fit silhouettes. Jeans on a flight are not totally off the table; choose a pair with an oversized cut and pretreated to a softer texture. A budget pick I recommend are Old Navy’s wide leg jeans   For an investment jean try a pair of Good American’s relaxed fit or soft tech jeans.

One of my favorite life hacks is wearing stylish sets, like those from Dressed in Lala. It feels like wearing glorified pajamas  You couldn’t be more comfortable while looking super cool and stylish.

Outerwear: Pull it All Together

No matter how polished or schlubby your ‘fit is, outerwear is THE element that will completely elevate any look.

Trench and pea coats make you look chic — like you’ve got important places to go. A bomber or leather jacket gives you that hip, edgy look.

Bonus Tip: Refresher Mini Kit

Pack a small pouch with travel-sized beauty products for a refresh before you land. A hydrating face mist, lip balm, and a touch of concealer can work wonders!

Your travel day ensemble should be the perfect harmony of comfort and style.

Embrace relaxed fits, layer strategically, and let your outerwear do the talking. The goal is to feel as fabulous as you look, even when you’re on the move.
