This weekend, I was invited to enjoy the beautiful Thermae Bath Spa (pictured) for a much-needed break from a busy Business and Leisure end of year and was reminded by this experience the importance of taking a little time for R&R.
Whether you have a week, a day, or even two hours, as I did at the Spa, investing a small amount of time in your wellness pays more than dividends in the end.
Here are tips for this historic city that’s easily accessible across Europe. Live somewhere less exotic? Look for a day spa near you and pretend you’re in an exotic locale.
What Happens in the Spa Stays in the Spa (But the Relaxation Lives On)
The visit includes access to mineral waters perfect for washing away stress or fears.
Upon arrival, I was whisked away with my robe and towel, entered the warm Minerva Bath area, and enjoyed the jets and unique shapes of the building. After the warmth, the highlight of the entire visit was the rooftop pool with stunning views of the whole city.
Finally, to close out my journey, I took part in the state-of-the-art Infrared Room, a Celestial Relaxation Room, an invigorating Ice Chamber, and aroma steam rooms, which left me feeling as good as new, all in less than 120 minutes. Of the many ways to relax on a weekend or even before/after work, this was incredible.
Outside the Spa
Over 2000 years of history are featured at The Roman Baths, a highlight attraction aptly named Bath. I recommend going closer to closing time or during the week if your work schedule allows to avoid the crowds. A new tradition of mine is “Museum Monday,” which tremendously helps alleviate the Sunday scaries.
When you visit any city, look for un-touristy attractions. Art lovers will love The Holburne Museum which opened in the 1800s. Venues like this are helpful in unleashing creativity, which can have positive impacts on your productivity.
The End of the Year Can Be Challenging.
Deadlines, new metrics, winter weather, financial and family obligations, and holiday stress are just a few things on the list of stressors. Prioritize self-care this December. You might be surprised at its benefits on your mood (and even your work performance)!
