Moving: The Bleisure Living Way

Moving is stressful!

Whether going across the world or across town, it can be a challenging process full of ups and downs. It’s considered one of the most stressful life events.

Yet, in the Summer of 2025, we (Matt and Nancy) made moves to new homes.

Here are our stories and advice for when you know when changing where you live (and keep your luggage) is the right decision.

Stay or go?

Matt: “After spending a year in central London, I was ready to explore a new neighborhood with new coffee shops to work remotely from, and I realized how much I missed having a true community, which my current building didn’t offer. Even though I’d only been in my place for a year, I knew the timing was right.”

Nancy: “I had moved three times in ten years, and the prospect of doing it again was daunting. I decided to stay in Arizona for at least another year rather than moving back east. My building quality and management had become untenable (seven thefts during my time there), so I ‘bit the bullet’ and found a new complex. I hired a professional organizer, which made the process WAY easier and got rid of about 30% of my possessions prior to the relocation. It was incredibly stressful, but now that I’m on the other side (in a place I love), I have no regrets! A change of scenery is an opportunity to reboot many aspects of your life!”

Travel Considerations

Matt: “Being able to travel more was a huge factor for me. My new place is less than half the distance to the airport as my current home, which I know I’ll appreciate for 6 AM takeoffs or 1 AM  landings. My new home is also significantly more affordable than my current one, meaning even more possibilities for travel.”

Nancy: “Totally agree! Not only am I close to the airport, I organized my new space with ‘pack and go’ in mind. My suitcase, carry-on, and travel toiletries are all easily accessible. My next trip is in just a month, and I’m ready to roll!”

The Home Work Space

Matt: “One of the amenities I am most looking forward to is a dedicated co-working space, as I’ve learned working in silence at home just isn’t for me.”

Nancy: “I also decided that my home should be a ‘place of peace’ rather than a home office. I do my fun writing and personal projects from my new apartment. My laptop even has its own new and sleek place to sit when I’m not writing. I created new life habits for myself, which has been a huge benefit of the move! It’s harder to do that when you’ve been in a space for a while.”

Although packing for a Bleisure Living trip is more fun than packing for a move, when it goes well, there’s just something satisfying about being in your new, perfect “home base.”
