Tell us more about Campspot and what you do for the team?
“At Campspot, we’re a booking platform and app that makes it easy for people to find and book campgrounds, RV parks, and glamping experiences across the country. As Director of Consumer Marketing, I oversee all our consumer-facing efforts, including social media, email campaigns, content strategy, PR, and partnerships. A big part of my role is elevating and driving exposure for our campground partners through our marketplace. We’re all about increasing the discoverability of our campgrounds, making it easier for campers to connect with the perfect destination. Whether you’re booking a quick getaway or planning a longer stay, I want to make sure the experience is as seamless as possible for both campers and campgrounds.”
How can bleisure living travelers make use of Campspot?
“During the pandemic, remote work surged, and so did camping. Many bleisure travelers discovered that campgrounds today offer a lot more than they expect. You can easily book a campground with modern amenities like Wi-Fi, clubhouses, and great lodging. Campspot lets you filter for these features to make sure your needs are met, whether you’re working remotely or just unwinding after a busy week. The real appeal lies in balancing the immersion of nature with the convenience of modern workspaces, though I’d always recommend taking time to truly unplug and recharge while you’re at it.”
We value your marketing and PR insights. What tips do you have for travel brands appealing to business and leisure-focused consumers?
“For travel brands targeting both business and leisure travelers, it’s crucial to recognize the varying needs of each segment. Business travelers might prioritize convenience, connectivity, and work-friendly environments, while leisure travelers are looking for relaxation, adventure, and an escape from their routine. For nature-focused brands, the key is showcasing how modern campgrounds have evolved to meet both needs. Many offer amenities like Wi-Fi, meeting spaces, and comfortable lodging options, making them ideal for bleisure travel. At the same time, they also provide immersive outdoor experiences that appeal to those seeking a break from the usual hotel stays. The trick is understanding how these consumers overlap and tailoring your messaging to show how your offerings can seamlessly blend the best of both worlds.”
What do you expect will change in travel brand marketing and PR?
“In the future, understanding the context in which consumers live and travel will be more important than ever. Travel decisions are shaped by many factors—practical, emotional, and financial—and brands will need to move beyond industry trends to tap into those underlying motivations. From where people are going, to who they’re traveling with and why, it’s essential for brands to understand the macro drivers that influence these decisions. A brand’s ability to truly understand its consumers’ broader life context will make all the difference in crafting more resonant, effective messaging.”
What has been your favorite travel destination?
“One of my most memorable travel experiences was in Peru. The country offers a stunning mix of landscapes, from the Andean mountains to the coastal deserts, and the rich culture and history were fascinating. From the incredible diversity of landscapes to the unforgettable food, it was a place I hadn’t originally considered but was so glad I visited. The experience was enriching in ways I hadn’t anticipated and truly felt like a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.”
Anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
“I think a lot of people still have outdated ideas about camping. While traditional camping, like backpacking or simple tent setups, are still incredibly popular, today’s campgrounds offer so much more. For those looking to blend the beauty of nature with resort-style amenities, many RV parks and campgrounds offer everything from water parks and zip lines to on-site concerts and wine tastings. Plus, the lodging options are beautiful and affordable. So, if you haven’t considered camping as a destination before, it might be time to take another look!”
