Success by the Sea: A Bleisure Living Must

Last year, we gave tips for how to thrive on Bleisure Living by the water.

This year, prioritize your health and well-being and consider a trip to the sea! Even a short journey with sea breezes and salt air can unleash a new spark of creativity.

I recently had the pleasure of being invited to Poole, just two hours by train from London, to enjoy a lovely glass of wine at the historic and waterfront Custom House and take a 70-minute harbor voyage in the sunshine on Coastal Cruises.

My top takeaway from the stunningly beautiful cruise, especially for remote employees, that even during a workday a 70-minute voyage is generally manageable with respectful “stress and health related” notice.

The gentle splashing of the salt water felt therapeutic, and if it weren’t for a pre-booked return train ticket, I would have asked the kind crew for another ride!

The adorable town of Poole even had “video-call-worthy” reception, in case of work or client communications.

Looking for a local “water feature” in your local area? Go to Google Flights or Maps. If you only have time for a short drive, search for a beach, lake, or even a man-made lake you haven’t seen before and see what deals appear!

Even if it isn’t on your preferred airline or hotel loyalty program (I stayed in an independent 550-year-old pub hotel), a small sandy getaway could be exactly what you need. Most people can’t get to Poole. But perhaps you can find a different kind of pool.

A friendly HR reminder: Take your PTO! Or, if you work for yourself, simply set aside a “water day” on your calendar and get some H2O in your life this spring and summer.
