With the year coming to an end, and Paid Time Off days dwindling down (I hope! Please don’t be one of the 46% of Americans) the thought of another Bleisure Living trip might seem impossible, especially to go to some dreamy destinations for a good value. But, here at Bleisure Living, we have your back and I’m sharing one of my best kept travel secrets to make the most of your time off, all while working as much as you can. Taking multiple flights!
As I planned for my upcoming trip to Madeira I noticed that the only flights from London to arrive late Friday night wouldn’t arrive until after 11:00pm, not the ideal time to start a vacation and how sad to be wasting those after work hours just waiting for my flight. I did observe, many options from Lisbon with tons of times including some departing after the work day at 5:40 and arriving before 8:00pm, with plenty of time to enjoy a nice meal. So what did I do?! I booked a flight from London to Lisbon on THURSDAY after my work day, grabbed a cheap hotel by the airport on points, and now for even less money than the original flight will arrive to my vacation earlier than possible had I waited around. This trick doesn’t just work for me, but can work for you too because you will have many more airline options to choose from, and will get a fun stopover in a different city. Here’s how to check: Search on Google flights for non-stop departures from your destination city and then search in reverse to see if on the day of your arrival you could take advantage of the route. By splitting up your trip, you don’t spend your precious vacation time connecting or waiting on a plane but instead spend it in your actual destination.
So go make the most of every moment, and show those flight schedules who is the boss!
