The day had finally arrived! (Apologies to Willie Nelson, BTW.)
I was vaxxed and packed.
Although I took a brief staycation during the Pandemic (and went to see my kids back east once), Bleisuring was put on hold for a while.
But my California dreamin’ finally became a reality this past weekend. I drove to Santa Monica and spent a long weekend by the beach — working (of course), making my own bed at the hotel, and scanning QR codes to order meals. (No room service, so I had to resort to Door Dash one night.)
Fully-stocked mini-bars, valet parking, clean towels every day, and other luxury amenities are on hold for now, The Viceroy is reasonably-priced and close to the beach. The sun at the pool fades as the day goes on, which prompted people to sit less than six feet apart, but I can’t really complain.
The break from the desert and COVID monotony were welcome. The wi-fi was speedy, the shower was almost as big as my apartment, charging outlets were plentiful, and I found some great nearby options for outdoor dining.
And I got to try out my new travel sizes of ORL toothpaste and mouthwash (which look way better on a marble countertop than a squished tube).
So…Bleisuring is back! It’s slightly different, but still a true pleasure.
