Where am I supposed to be now?
We’ve all been there: we have so much in our heads and our e-mail that we can’t remember what hotel we booked or where that team dinner is happening. We could all benefit from a little more organization.
TripIt, a free app, helps you plan your trip with minimal effort required. You register for an account with your email address, and then create a trip in the app. From there, you forward all email reservations (plane tickets, hotels, trains, museum passes etc.) to TripIt’s address, and they are automatically collected into your chronological trip itinerary. If you don’t have email confirmation for your plans, you can always input them manually through the website or your phone or tablet. The app allows offline access, but when left online, it can update gate information and flight delays (anecdotally, some users find that it updates even before the airport monitors do). You can be the hero among your colleagues and share your itinerary with them via email or through their personal TripIt accounts.
TripIt Pro, priced at $49/year, comes with even more features. It sends push notifications to your phone, notifying you of changes and upcoming events. It has a seat tracker to ensure you find a quiet seat with extra legroom and can also find you last minute flights with open seats (a lifesaver in the event of a cancellation or long delay). It also offers discounts to services like LoungeBuddy and CLEAR.
At Bleisure Living, we are always trying new tricks to take the headache out of travel, and TripIt certainly fits the bill. When you want to make time for moments of leisure in your trip, it’s essential to have your schedule mapped out. Your smartphone already holds your mobile office, why not let it be your personal assistant too?
